I have seen this movie so many times and NEVER get tired of it. Natalie Wood is my all time favorite
It’s a classic. I hadn’t seen this movie in many years and enjoyed watching again.
I got this for my girlfriend, and she loves it so I guess it’s good. I haven’t seen it.
A classic
My wife’s all time favorite movie
another natalie wood classic "this property is condemned" i like more but this is a great addition to my collection
Splendor in the Grass starring Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty is a haunting and beautiful film about sexual repression in 1920’s Kansas. Wood gives a chilling performance, she was nominated for an Oscar and rightfully so. This movie just pulls at my heartstrings when it comes to first love and disappointment. This is a must-see coming-of-age tale of girl loves boy, girl loses boy, and finally overcomes her depression. Enjoy!
They don’t make romance movie like this anymore. It reminds me of a time when I went back home to visit and saw my first and only love. My heart broke when I saw how much he had changed. He was married with two girls at the age of 4 and 5 years old. He was letting them smoke weed. Vietnam broke his spirit. He went on to become an bum on the street from what I was told. I often wondered what it would have been like if we were married. This movie is a well written and the actors were perfect. I felt like I was that girl.
We’ve all had a heartbreak in our lives that has pushed us to our limits, making us believe we will never recover and Natalie Wood’s raw performance makes us feel we are in good company. She’s authentic, convincing, actually bringing old hurt back up into our throat making us choke on the pain and desperation of love we only allow ourselves in youth. -forget therapy and see this movie, Deannie, (Natalie Wood) with time, shows that truly the only thing to heal a broken heart is time, perspective and the perfect white dress. Get some tissue and get ready to heal the teenage heart beating in your forty something body.
This is really an intriguing film in the way it critiques gender expectations regarding sexuality while still being rooted in other ways in a traditionalist mindset. Natalie Wood is beautiful and vulnerable, and her acting in the subtle parts is exquisite. Her acting in the dramatic parts is overwrought, but that is also the nature of the character she plays. Interesting, quirky, a must see.
