  1. Belle of Brightside

I finished it and immediately started it over to try it on hard mode and it’s just as enjoyable this time around! :D

Samus returns baby!!! I am very excited to return to play metroid, I hope to fulfill all my expectations.note: I buy the new 3ds xl samus edition, nintendo should add the game be limited edition of the other consoles, I had to buy the game separately.

  3. John Doe

I was really worried when I saw Mercury Steam was attached to the project but it’s fantastic. The new counter mechanic adds more depth to enemy encounters (no more enemies flying in a straight line). The metroid battles are really fun and some of the best boss battles in the series. Game does not hold your hand like zero mission and fusion. You are placed in a large area and left to explore it at your leisure. Samus’ new suit looks fantastic as well. Any fan of Metroid (or Castlevania) will feel right at home with this game.

  4. Shane

Bought this for my brother and he was very pleased with it. DS games are a little hefty which is the only reason it’s not a 10/10.

  5. Zach

Very fun, very modern feeling on a classic game.Echoes

All things considered I was excited to play the game. I had to wait a few weeks before the game got here which was weird but it made it. Gameplay good.

Simply put, this game is AMAZING. Hands down. If you’re a dedicated Metroid fan, this is a wonderful reboot of the original Game Boy game (I still have my original cartridge). I’ve beaten the original game, but haven’t got there yet on this one. Yet I still feel justified in reviewing this game now.If you’re new to the Metroid series, this, along with the Prime Trilogy, are excellent games to get into. Be warned that this particular game is a throwback to it’s original in many ways, one being the difficulty. You absolutely must learn to dodge enemy attacks and wipe them out quickly and efficiently if you want to survive in this game. If you’re an experienced gamer in general, this shouldn’t be an issue, but casual or new gamers might be frustrated by this.Ah, the throwbacks…. I’ve heard musical scores from every single Metroid game in this installment. Ditto for artwork that’s shown in the beginning of the game. For me, this game is a unique blend of forging a path into a new game while taking an exciting dash down memory lane. Controls are tight, and, so long as you utilize the resources and equipment you obtain throughout the game, you won’t be stuck for long. Again, experienced gamers will figure it out, newcomers might get frustrated. I’ve yet to see any signs of a poorly built game here, everything is solid. Honestly, I would only hesitate to recommend this new masterpiece to gamers that concretely state they aren’t interested in this genre.

This is like a Thank You letter to Metroid fans.

  9. King of the Wood

Metroid is one of my favorite Nintendo game series. I had never played the original Metroid 2, so I can’t compare this remake. But I thought Metroid: Samus Returns was a wonderful re-imagining of the 2D roots of the original games. It essentially takes all the good parts from the past 2D Metroids and adds a few cool updates to create one of the top installments of the series. Everything I love about Metroid (the exploration, finding hidden upgrades, evolving equipment and powering up) is there. The game is perfect on the 3DS – it is a bit linear and there are plenty of save spots; it looks awesome with the 3D actually turned on, and the bottom screen is integrated wonderfully, showing the map and power-ups in a convenient way.I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes the Metroid series and probably even for first time players.

  10. Nick

I’m blown away by how well this game turned out. It felt like a love letter to the classic Metroid series while at the same time taking it to new heights. I was skeptical of the change in graphics but it looks beautiful. It’s the only game I’ve played with the 3D on the entire time (New 3DS). Now I can’t imagine future 2D Metroid done any other way. And I hope Nintendo and Mercury Steam can bring Samus back again soon!
