Great remake! Classic metroid. Gameplay with new moves and 180/360 degree aiming. 3D feature really stands out.

  2. jerseyduo

Just started to play it and it looks and feels great .. can’t wait to get back to it ..

  3. Burns

Surprisingly easy to "pick up and play," despite the time commitment you may associate with Metroid. Only issue I have is the game’s over reliance on melee-counters

  4. Matt

Brings back memories — good ole SuperMetroid

  5. Michael Heydorf

Oh wow, my favorite game was Metroid Fusion back in the day. I’m glad she’s back in her glorious sidescrolling action.

  6. B.J.S.

The lonely atmosphere is back and the tense music and ambience fit the spacious 3D effect nicely. Play this one with the slider up! Samus animates beautifully, with every aim down her arm cannon and vault off a wall– probably the most agile and badass I’ve seen her yet.The sprawling, labrynthine underworld is laced with hidden missile tanks and energy capsules, per the series norm, and the morph ball takes the spotlight with several upgrades that open up many more areas and means of travel. But while it’s nice to have free aim using the Slide Pad, it’s not quite nuanced enough in the hottest battles. Lots of times I found myself having to trace my shots and readjust, which left me open to a pounce or dive from the various alien creatures. Also the new melee strikes feel good in action but a certain combo of weapons nearly negates the need for them. I’m not going to spoil which combo. It’s a very solid return to form for this venerable adventure series, and Mecury Steam can notch another one on their talented belt, but it doesn’t have the tight level design and catchy soundtrack of Super Metroid, nor the engrossing lore and superb bosses of Metroid Prime; in fact Samus Returns reuses the enemies a little too much. But the original game had the same problem. Similar to the original too, the pacing at the end kind of drags on as the last few Metroids are chased down, and the final bosses are going to frustrate many players because they take so long to kill and tend to make your h.

Metroid Samus Returns might be my favorite 2D Metroid to-date, and that’s saying something if it beat Super Metroid! Newcomers to the Metroid franchise should find this game extremely fun through all of the run-and-gun segments, boss battles, and exploration. Now thanks to the new scan pulse ability you’ll never get lost exploring the depths of SR388. Veterans to the series will also find this game to be equally as challenging as previous Metroid games and new abilities such as the melee counter attack change up combat from what you’re used to. Overall I highly recommend this game, It’s a modern-day masterpiece!

I have been waiting for a Metroid game like this for a very very long time. Even if it is a remake and remaster of an old Gameboy title, it did the series justice. This game provided a good challenge at times and hours of exploration. It even has the charm of roping you back in for another play through, or getting you to want to explore every area and get every last power up. Music track was alright, but not the best the series has offered. Graphics for a 3DS were great. Controls varied but overall were great. After playing this and seeing what they were capable of, I would love to see some of the other older titles receive the same treatment. This is a must have item for any 3DS owner.

I couldn’t put this one down! This is the best Metroid game in over 10 years. The only thing that holds it back is that there is very little story, and not very much innovation. But it is a remake of the original gameboy game. I really hope that Nintendo makes more Metroid games like this.

    Got for my son.
