This is an easy 5 star. Storyline is amazing, battle system is amazing, all the characters are excellent with their own personality and quirks and persona 4 really shines in character development and bringing out the uniqueness of each characters. There is never a bland moment in persona 4. Social links are really well developed. All the events that happens in game are sometimes so funny that you can’t help but laugh yourself off. The MC really has a personality too, given the hilarious dialogue choices. And I should mention the extra epilogue which really brings a close to everything. This game has 70 hours of content and I didn’t even finish any sidequest, I just kinda go through the whole game without worrying about quests. Great game. If you get this, prepare to spend a lot of time playing it and being engrossed in it.

A Japanese-Anime turned game that manages to make you care about some of the most annoying characters ever to grace a video game. From the taciturn protaganist, to the screeching chie, and goofy teddy – this game is chock full of cliches and wild anime voice acting.Slow at first, it quietly draws you in to it’s seeming simplistic world. Not a whole lot to explore, but lots of dialogue…lots. But it only becomes a chore on occasion (classroom lectures anyone?) You’ll sometimes become frustrated with the dungeon exploring, but eventually realize that the diverse characters, boss battles, and artwork are exemplary. Two weeks later, you find yourself humming the many songs that infect your mind – day and night…. "heartbeat, heatbreak…" You realize you’re spending hours playing into the wee hours of the morning hoping that the protagonist will hook up with on of your many female friends. What about the game? It’s so hard to describe… Part rpg, part dungeon roaming /leveling up, part social interaction, part story book novel, part psychology lessons about life.. really. You’ll get about 100 hours of playtime if you take your time and do all the side quests.I’m no anime fan, but trust me – especially if you play through to the correct ending- this game is a masterpiece on so many different levels. Bravo.

This game is a really great visual novel meets JRPG. Tons of fun characters and a really intriguing story that I would stay up way too long investing time into before I realized that I probably needed sleep. I, initially, played the PS2 version of this game about a week before purchasing the Vita version (which I played on the PS TV, which I payed for… totaling $60 altogether with this game which was a GOOD DEAL, if only for this game).I loved the game before learning that P4G was essentially the DEFINITIVE EDITION of the same game. Loads more of events that fleshed out the characters more, more anime cut scenes which I enjoyed, and enjoyed the new Social Links and night time stuff. IMPORTANT: IF YOU’VE PLAYED THE PS2 VERSION AND ARE LOOKING AT THIS ONE – you can CHOOSE what skills your Persona will get when you fuse them. It such a HUGE change that reduced SO MUCH STRESS and gave me 30 hours of my life back for this playthrough.Generally, they made the game a lot easier to manage everything to Social Links to Dungeons. Except Gold Hands. Gold Hands legitimately frustrated me finally. As for the game as a whole, the story follows Yu (or whatever you decide your character name to be) and his transferring to Inaba due to family reasons. A series of murders occurs roughly the same time he arrives and it seems to involve the rumored Midnight Channel. It’s a fun mystery with a satisfying resolve while mixing in talking to friends, building up your stats and enjoying the town of I.

I’m a mythology/psychology buff, so Persona games, with their roots firmly planted in Jungian psychology, are lovely for someone like me. Of course, I also happen to like the very specific action/thriller/slice-of-life story play mixed together with dungeon crawling in the way only Persona games can do, so of course I’d give this a 5/5.There isn’t much that I can say without spoiling the game other than that the story, so long as nobody else spoils it, is a great murder mystery the first time through, and is even worth a second play-through for other story elements, such as alternate endings and parts of the story that run parallel to one another. The game as a whole is well written, and you can learn a few things from the game you wouldn’t expect. Here’s something I didn’t expect to learn from this game: It’s a common technique when translating a text to replace portions with entirely different text that would have the same effect the original text had in it’s original language, as direct word-for-word translations often lose some of that magic that made them special. Also after P3P, I’m just glad this isn’t a visual novel outside of dungeons.

Got this game at launch, then sold my Vita and now bought it again.Great JRPG; the game is long and fun to play; the story is really engaging, if you like detective stories that goes into supernatural. The whole premise of using everyday kids instead of veteran heroes give you the feeling that everyone can be a hero if they put efforts in it. Also the whole game is full of interesting characters, although stereotyped from the classic manga and anime series; but you end up really caring about them, to the point where the game end, you may start to miss them.Graphics are a bit dated, but being a JRPG that is not really that relevant. Vita games are mostly the same graphic level of Switch games, so you get the idea. The game was a PS2 game that was remastered for the Vita; so it show a bit of age, but on the small Vita screen you won’t be able to tell much.Sound is amazing; the BMG you hear all over the game are always spot on and nice to hear; they get repetitive after a while but the game keep you busy so you won’t notice much. Voice acting is impressive in the JP tracks, but also the US version is nice. Usually I never bother with localized dubbing because they often are pretty bad, but with P4G, it is quite different. The En voice dub does not have the same appeal of the Jp one, but it is impressive nevertheless.Gameplay is standard JRPG; at night, when you visit “dungeons”, while during the day you have common student activities; which include studying, reading books to inc.

Without a doubt, the best game on the Vita. If you have a Vita, I highly recommend playing this. I got 60 hours out of the game before I got bored, and I only got about 30% of the trophies. Plenty to do, great replayability (and a New Game + mode), great combat, and interesting characters/stories.

Persona 4 Golden is on a lot of Vita top ten lists and for good reason. It takes a couple genres and meshes them all together so smoothly. There are parts where you will be dungeon crawling for goodies and monsters to stomp. The action then switches to turn based similar to a final fantasy 8 or 9. Then you have your relationships to think about just as much. As you go along you meet new people and hang out after school or try to solve the mystery of why kids keep being killed. The game is very long and a little overwhelming at parts, but it is essentially impossible to screw anything up. You are given enough time in a cycle to complete your tasks and the game won’t let you stray away too much to get lost. The friendships you make in the game are quite unique and make me wish I could play this all over for the first time again. No regrets.

If you are hyper-sensitive to a game’s immersion, like I am, then you’re probably a little concerned that the high-school plot may be a deal breaker. I thought so too. I play mature story-driven games, with adult protagonists. There was a time when I would really appreciate a high-school aged hero to role play with, but I’m picky now as my taste for games has out-grown most of what is available these days. With that said, I’m also very sensitive to plot-holes, lazy writing and poor emphasis on character development. Pretty much everything you would expect in a Japanese RPG, thanks mostly to sub-par translations into English. Sound like you? Read on.When I took the chance with this game, I didn’t do-so lightly. I scoured all four corners of the internet looking for advice on whether or not this game would be for me. I found that the majority of the die-hard Persona fans were about my age (28). Plugging the game into my Vita I kept my expectations low. At this point I was anticipating a game that I would put away as soon as I found the aforementioned flaws in an otherwise typical Japanese to English RPG starring some kid from high-school. As you can imagine, I was uncontrollably looking for any excuse to hate it. I was delightfully surprised! The game is Japanese, no doubt about it, but the English and the voice acting are the first traits that caught my impressed attention. They are absolutely, unquestionably some of the best I have ever experienced in any game of any develope.

If you own a Vita and haven’t played this game, you are wrong. It’s by far the best game I’ve found on the system, and one of the best RPG’s I’ve ever played on ANY system. It does everything right:- the music is amazing- the character and environmental designs are fun- the writing will make you actually care about even the silliest minor characters- the battle system is dynamic and varied- the dungeon crawling, relationship building, and mystery aspects are all tied together and balanced beautifully- it’s freaking HUGE; you can play this game for 100 hours and still be finding new contentLiterally the ONLY complaint that I can think of is that the English dub is god-awful. Most of the characters can barely pronounce their own names right. Unfortunately, you can’t turn on the original Japanese, but you can turn off the audio dialogue altogether and only have to deal with their cringe-worthy voices during combat and animated cutscenes (which are rare). Or if you’re the horrible sort of person who watches anime with English dubs, you won’t even notice.

Well, I tell you I’ve had my PSVita for about 3 weeks now… This game was a ‘must buy’ from many friends and trusted reviewers. That said, my expectations for this game was sky high! However, initial thoughts were mixed given the extremely long intro and videos etc… which in hindsight is a great bonus since most games throw you to your own devices a bit too quickly. Now that i’m 20-30 hours in … this game has picked up significantly in pace… I’ve got multiple relationships/duties/jobs/clubs/gardens and grinding to do! Whew! Yeah, it might be overwhelming, but it provides a good amount or mix of things to do, and on this initial playthrough I’ve tried to align myself *minor spoilers* to all of my party members equally. There are both male/female and of course some love interests, which makes it hard to ‘pick’ who to spend time with. *end Spoilers*.Overall, a solid game, that doesn’t really concentrate on just fights with some color text along. This game immerses you into a world where you can do and be who you want to be. There is a great challenge in this game, but not frustrating, come back and try again sort of attitudes are needed!Thank you for all the reviewers who recommended this game, I’m pleased with my purchase.
