I decided to rent something some time before my previous Christmas in order to shake off the incredible excitement and I made a fantastic choice.Of course I only knew about the game by watching a commercial about it and I thought it looked awesome and I was very right about it. Simply put the best platformer of the PS2,not just that, one of the best platformers of all time!(hope those platforming fans who got the Gamecube instead of the PS2 hoping for a good platformer aren’t dissapointed by this)Let me just tell you what this amazing platformer and third-person shooter got right, fun platforming, some pretty good graphic, good and not to mention hilarious storyline and of course some good old fashioned weapon-blasting fun.Now let me tell the only problems of this game that are only noticable by playing the sequel, bit too easy, not very good enemy intelligence, you don’t have much health in this game and possibly the only big setbacks are:if some weapon in this game isn’t very useful then you just plain don’t use it and since enemys aren’t too hard to defeat you can just whack them with your main weapon throughout the majority of the game.So if you like platformers or third-person shooters and of course have a PS2 then check this game out.

I am completely in love with Ratchet & Clank (hush, all you filthy minds out there). I’m a big fan of games that let you run wild and free and beat the living daylights out of enemies, shrubbery, and heck, even yourself. R&C is the ultimate in bashing. After playing 126 hours of Final Fantasy X2, R&C was refreshing and blessedly short. Sure, there are a few puzzles and the ever present need to find those blasted gold bolts, but you’ll be having too much fun to get too frustrated. The videos are hilarious, the graphics nice(though occasionally if you get behind a tree and change your POV you’ll see nothing but foliage), and you can’t beat having weapons like the Taunter (my personal favorite is the Glove of Doom). Well worth your $15. Go buy it. Now.

I love the ratchet and clank series because the weapons are sweet, the story rocks, controls are easy, difficulty gets increasingly difficult as you go on,and the game is funny. The story starts off as you,Ratchet, fixing a ship. You are on your homeworld Veldin when you see ship crash to the surface. You go explore and find Clank,a small robot. When he tells you he can get you off the planet you are thrilled. The story takes off from there. As you are on your adventure you collect Bolts that pay for some of your guns and ammo.To aquire Bolts you can do 4 things:Kill an enemy, destroy boxes, participate in hoverboard races,or collect them as you see them.On every planet there are Gold Bolts that help you aquire gold weapons(More on them later). The weapons are funny as well as deadly. There is a Blaster,Pyrocerator(flamethrower),R.Y.N.O.(Rip Ya a New One),Suck Cannon(Sucks up small enemies to be shot at other enemies,a Morph-o-Ray,and many others. There are also gadgets that help you in your journey. There is the Swing Shot that allows you to swing through marked areas,a Hydrodisplacer that allows you to suck up water from certain nozzles as well as place water in certain nozzles, and a gadget that allows you to open otherwise unaccsesible areas. The planets are nice sized with many surprises like Gold Bolts, weapons and Skill Points.Skill Points come into affect after you win the game. You can choose to replay the game with all your weapons and bolts and if you do you can get skill points by co.

I am not much of a platformer-game fan, but this game is absolutely incredible. The graphics blew me away. they are clean, crisp, running at 60 fps, and colorful. The weapons are a blast and rather original. It is a lot of fun to use the suck cannon and suck up enimies to shoot out at other enimies. The controls are tight and responsive. I never blame the game controls because i died. there were a few parts that seemd rather frusterating (for example, running away from the water), but on a whole, this game excells in all aspects.

Great game, good weapons and missions. I bought this used and my game froze after 10 missions or so… pay the extra $$ to buy new.

This is a cute game especially for those who like platform games. I agree with another reviewer — the worlds are really huge and sometimes you just lose your orientation. I especially like this game because you can play it entirely in Spanish (it also has French and German, I think). My complaint is that the controls/views are a little sluggish, that is, you turn Ratchet to face a certain direction and by the time you use the controls to see what he sees, you could get blown up. That said, it’s a lot of fun, vivid and colorful graphics and you should get this game for a nice distraction. Hours will pass by without your even knowing it!
