Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike

Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike is an action video game developed by Factor 5 and published by LucasArts for the GameCube. The game is set during the original Star Wars trilogy and recreates battles that take place during those films. And the game follows the Rogue Squadron, which, under the command of Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. And uses starfighters to engage and defeat the Galactic Empire.

However, Rebel Strike was developed as a sequel to Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader. Also Rebel Strike added the ability for players to leave their starfighters to participate in ground battles. As well as enter and pilot other vehicles during certain missions. Also the game has a two-player multiplayer mode allowing cooperative play for all but two missions from Rogue Leader.

Gameplay

Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike features gameplay in ground vehicles and on foot, a first for the series.
Moreover, in Rebel Strike the player controls several Star Wars vehicles such as the X-wing and AT-ST across missions that span the movies and moments outside the films. Also it contains on-foot missions in addition to the space battle missions found in the previous Rogue Squadron series games. Also the game includes some unlockable classic missions inspired by the Star Wars original trilogy.

The game also features two multiplayer modes: Co-op and Versus. Co-op allows players to replay missions from Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader in split-screen, excluding the levels Triumph of the Empire and Revenge on Yavin. But in Co-op, players share the same pool of lives. And versus features a variety of modes, such as Dogfight and Survival. In any Versus mode, players can pilot several craft, including X-Wings, A-Wings, TIE Fighters, and Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced.

I bought this game 3 weeks ago and I can honestly say it is the best star wars game ever !!!!! It isn’t a big factor that you can’t control the camera ,but it is superb. The multiplayer is the best I’ve ever played. The fact that they added the whole rogur leader game is the best co-op I ever played. If I could I would give it 10 stars but the option was only 5 max. The levels are longer than normal and the graphics are a little better. Remember, from shooting storm troopers on foot, to controlling the head on an at-at, the game is wicked. Buy it from amazom.ca!!!!

Rebel Strike is the third game in Factor 5/Lucasarts’ Rogue Squadron series. It is an arcade flight shooter with tactical elements, and this installment mixes things up by including on-foot and vehicle missions.I like how Factor 5 dared to be different this time around. You get to play as an AT-ST walker and direct Ewoks to trigger their traps on Endor. You also get to relive the famous speeder bike chase, and thanks to some truly stunning graphics this scene is just as cool as it was in the movie. In fact a lot of this game covers sequences that the previous installment, Rogue Leader, didn’t cover. If you put the two games together you pretty much get a complete Star Wars Trilogy package. The flight missions are still top-notch. The Jedi Starfighter makes a cameo this time around, and you get to drop those cool seismic charges like in the movie. The on-foot missions though, are somewhat problematic. You can run around and blast Stormtroopers, but the controls feel a bit loose and the aiming reticle doesn’t always latch onto the person you want to shoot at. Jumping can become a royal pain, especially in the Dagobah and Sail Barge missions. Overall these missions are playable, but their unrefined qualities make them too easy compared to the flight and vehicle missions, and they work mostly as a mild diversion. We also get a bunch of bonus content in Rebel Strike. ALL of Rogue Squadron is available in 2-player co-op mode, and I’m surprised Factor 5 managed to squeeze it all in. T.

This game is an absolute blast. This ranks right up there with Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast and Academy for my favorite Star Wars game. The reason for this is simple: the aerial fighting is amazing, and this is actually two games in one. That being said, a downside of purchasing this game is that playing Rogue Squadron II requires a second player, but that shouldn’t be incredibly hard to do.

Its been what? 3 years since Game Cube was released now? I never upgraded from my N64 because I didn’t think that the games had improved that much. But last week I played this game on my friends Game Cube and I just had to have it.It’s amazing! Especially for a Star Wars freak like me. What makes the game so great isnt just the great graphics, its that you get to go on foot as Luke, Han, Leia, etc.. Something that the hasn’t been done since the Super Star Wars series on Super Nintendo. Sure the flying is great, but the other rogue squadron titles already delivered that. Now you can actually be a part of the movies by playing the characters as well as flying the ships. And Nintendo delivered that with the same level of great gameplay, graphics, and fun that they always provide better than the other game systems.

I own rogue squadron I and II so I know what I’m talking about here. After seeing and hearing much footage from IGN.com about the new rogue squadron I am impressed…GREATLY! on foot with a blaster, lightsaber, or manning a anti-infantry gun. Attacking from the high perch of a AT-ST, or swooping to the rescue in a speeder bike, manning the classic vehicles like the A,X,B, and Y wings as well as the TIE fighter, interceptor, and X1, The Millenium Falcon, Slave I, and of course the Naboo Starfighter. They’re all here, waiting in that shiny new 128bit hanger, just for you. Promising a advanced two player mode utilizing Rogue Squadron II, you and a friend can blast apart the deathstar time and again. A totally new engine promising more ships, new graphics that will put Episode I to shame, and getting to mow down defenseless stormtroopers. Dogfight your friend or just outshoot him in the intricate vs modes. The bonuses on this game are EXTREME! Let’s not forget the new airborne and groundborne, enemies and friends. And while your out saving that galaxy far far away, don’t forget to look at the 128bit scenery, the new oceans will be pretty….STARWARS ROGUE SQAUDRON III:REBEL STRIKE, COMING TO A CONSOLE NEAR YOU…

The other reviews on retrolio I believe have either overrated or underrated this game. I will say that the parts out of the ships are not that good at all and I think they were a big mistake. But this game also has some great features like finally adding a two-player mode with both cooperative missions and versus missions. The hidden craft are great! I will not reveil any of them but they are fun to piolt. Other than these two player mode and non-starcraft missions it is pretty similar to the last two so if you liked the last two you will probally like this one to.

  9. Charles Keasler

Awesome! Bought this just to play the old Star Wars arcade game hidden inside Darth’s hangar. Love it!

  10. Alejandro Salem

This game is no less than the best Star Wars game ever. You not only use spaceships, like in the other games. You can use the hovering bikes from the moon of endor, your lightsabre and many other vehicles. It also features a multiplayer mode in which you can play cooperatively. All in all, I recomend this game to any Star Wars fan. Actually, I recommend it to anyone.
