I really like this game. I am not a veteran of the Warhammer universe, and I did not need to be in order to have a blast with this game. It’s combat reminded me of Viking: Battle for Asgard, but with projectile weapons. The controls are ergonomically satisfying. Switching from your chainsaw sword to your remotely detonated gernade launcher and then to your sniper, all while rolling to avoid the over-whelming orc horde, is done so simply that it makes you feel like a real space marine killing machine. Great visuals. Great sci fi atmosphere – sort of like the overwhelming sense of dread in “Aliens” mixed with the Marine Delta efficiency of “Black Hawk Down”. I bought this game for about a $20. It is worth every penny.

I loved every second of this game. I was a bit surprised to find it hook me so, and had to play it for a few days straight to beat it. I now want to fire it back up and start fresh. The best way to describe this game, for me, is to say it’s a more “cartoony” and colorful version of Gears of War. There is no cover to duck into, there are a LOT more enemies that you fight at any given time than Gears, but it does feel a lot like GoW in terms of general handling and gameplay. “Cartoony” is not a knock on the game at all, but rather a boon. The game is serious in tone, but the Orks and their weapons are colorful compared to the Locust in Gears. And you can’t forget the awesome Ultramarine Power Armor. The game is gorgeous. And the colors pop. Never had any slowdown even with all the enemies on screen being torn asunder.I can’t recommend this game enough. If you like action-packed romps, and don’t mind bloody violence, this game delivers fun in spades. It took me around 10 hours I think, maybe less. I wasn’t timing the game, but I played heavily for 3 days, juggling sessions between family duties with my two small children. The game didn’t outstay its welcome, but it also satisfied me completely.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is a good game. It has some solid combat and gameplay design that takes precedent over developing what is a very interesting story. You’ll spend hours sawing through hordes of enemies. But you might also be left wanting more storytelling.Going online can be rewarding if you have the patience to unlock weapons and perks, but you’ll only have two modes to choose from. It’s going to be a really crowded gaming market this holiday season. I think Space Marine is worth a look.

First of all I’d like to say that I came into this game not knowing anything about the Warhammer universe. I’m a big time Sci-fi fan though so after playing this game I definitely want to check out the Warhammer 40k novels. As for the game itself basically I can sum it up as being really fun. The single player campaign was fun, engaging and pretty well paced. The campaign is pretty solid in the total length of it. Not too long and not too short, just right. The main problem with the campaign is the gameplay can get repetitive, but then again what game doesn’t? Basically I’d recommend playing the campaign in small doses. The different environments and artistic style though really help the game from not feeling too repetitive. You’ll switch from small corridors to more open spaces outside. It also never gets old to go running into a huge group of orks slicing and shooting them up. =)When I first got the game I mainly got it for the campaign and for a little multiplayer on the side. However after trying the multiplayer, I’m hooked. It’s probably one of the funnest multiplayer games I’ve ever played. The only bad thing I can really say about the multiplayer is the limited maps and modes. There’s only 5 multiplayer maps and two game modes, seize ground (conquest) and annihilation (team deathmatch). Despite the limited maps and modes it’s still really fun with the different classes and vast customization options. There’s also going to be a free horde type mode available in October..

Kid love to play the game

From chainswords to thunder hammers, orks and inquisitors, for all men are tempted, and only a few stand in integrity and honor through trials and horrors unimaginable. The only complaints I would have of this game are due to the Warhammer 40K novels, how much of them I’ve read and how all of what I wanted could not fit in one game. They tried though, they tried. Excellent controls, story arc, lighting, sound, animation, and so much more. Characters and story reflected the Warhammer 40K nicely. I enjoyed this game more so than the movie following the same chapter, and I don’t want to gripe, but there was so much that I still want to see through great accomplishments like this in the future. The Ultramarines are not my favorite chapter, maybe we can connect a story arc with a choice of characters, I wouldn’t mind playing an Iron Hands…give me the option of playing as a Chaos Space Marine…yeah, I know, too much to ask for in one game, but it would be nice…armor customization…and for those who are not familiar, my gripe is not with the online multi-player, you actually can do these things, I just wouldn’t mind having this option in the solo campaign. Great showcase of the Mechanicum forges, immense, mind boggling size and dimension just like the books. I think the Space Marines were a little soft spoken though, and should have been scaled much bigger than the humans, including the inquisitor, he was too big, same size a Space Marine and didn’t have his entourag.

Great game and company that shipped a working game unlike "media-recovery"

  8. Bike Commuter

This game deserves more attention for one reason, in that it brings back the fun that has been lost in mainstream shooters. In short, you get a chainsaw sword and guns that fire explosive bullets. Fun, visceral action that only last a few hours. Minus a star for being a short game and lacking vehicular homicide.

If you are a fan of warhammer 40k, or just a good old fashioned hack ans slash game…BUY THIS.Great controls. Very clean graphics, nothing jaw dropping but put together well. Most importantly does not get boring at any point during game.

  10. Jorge Alaniz

This is a great game, the space marine movements in the game are good, the con in this game is that you cant play co-op campaing with your frinds, but it let you play multiplayer in Xbox Live, for 20 bucks its lots of Fun!
