I have been reading the WH40K books for a few years now so I was a little excited for this game. Playing the Dawn of War games also made the thought of a first person shoot/hammer smasher, even more exciting. Knowing this I was looking forward to the game but didn’t hold my expectations high, it is a small group of people compared to Say MW3 and battlefield who even know what a Space Marine is. With that I wasn’t expecting the greatest game play but looking forward to a decent WH40K story………….I was pretty surprised. The story was good, with a lot of in depth portions of the WH40K universe that unless you are familiar you probably wouldn’t notice, but the game play was what caught me of guard. It is so simple to control yet so much fun, from the Jet Pack to combat rolls and a chain sword. SO much fun, then the multiplayer, what a surprise, it was like a after though. Only a few maps and 2 modes of play, I can’t wait for the DLC. This game is awesome, in every respect, the story is what I would expect form the WH40K universe and the game play is awesome simple and fun”FOR THE EMPEROR!”

Warhammer 40k Space Marine has a single player campaign, multiplayer vs modes, and forthcoming Co-op mode (estimated Oct. 2011). I have played the campaign and the multiplayer, and I am loving it.The single player pits you and a handful of other space marines (think futuristic Roman-empire-styled super soldiers) against millions of orcs. There is plenty of gunplay with ammo pods and different gun pods strewn about the landscape. However the real fun starts when you have to make the decision to reload, switch guns, or wade into the horde with your melee weapons. The melee combat is great. A few simple combos X, XY, YB cover 90% of the melee combat. But the reward is hugely satisfying: Crowds of orcs fly, limbs are severed, and blood spews. The difficulty levels are well balanced. For me, I get quickly frustrated if I cannot get past a certain point, Easy was fun. I still died a few times, but I got to experience the campaign story (which a great tale of civilization fighting a desperate battle for control of a Forge World). The harder levels get very challenging. The multiplayer mode is also lots of fun. There is a good community (on xbox live) with plenty of players at a variety of levels. As you increase your xp and perform certain tasks you will unlock additional weapons and armor. There is a lot of customization possible.Warhammer 40k has been around for a long time, but this game was my first exposure to it. I loved it. The Roman-styled futuristic super soldiers.

Don’t know s*** about this warhammer stuff, but this was a solid game thru and thru. Story, action, world, design, art, action. Awesome.

This was probably my favorite game of the year so far, and while that’s not saying too much October, this is a really fun game. If not for some faults, it could have possibly been the best game of the year. It plays like a combination of Gears of War (without fire behind cover) and God of War, but unlike other games both aspects are accomplished very well. The health system is very original, and an acceptable alternative to the overused automatic health regeneration after a cool-down period. As anyone who plays FPS will know, that health mechanic will inevitably have you hiding from the enemies while you wait for your health to regenerate, which is boring and isn’t very bad ass. Alternatively, this game’s health system rewards you for rushing the enemy and sawing/slicing/crushing an enemy in half. It also does though, bring up a new series of issues when the only way to gain health is to stun and then grapple with an enemy. The biggest problem being that the developers decided to have the grapple animations take all long time to finish, and you are vulnerable the whole time you are performing them. Consequentially, many times you end up with the same amount of health you had before eviscerating the enemy, or even many times you might be killed while slowly killing an enemy. To me, the grapple moves should either be quicker, or your character should be invulnerable. Problems also arise when you are mostly fighting enemies that are in the distance, as at times you have no way t.

Overall i was pleased with this game, great graphics, great action, but the single player campaign was very short (like 3 – 4 hours short) with warhammer 40k and, all that fantastic background and, history why so short? Because they (as usual) made the single player campaign a boot camp for multiplayer…..while i don’t ordinarily enjoy multiplayer because of all the idiocy that goes on with the players (the gameplay btw is flawless not a bug in sight)the setup is fairly nice, as you play you unlock weapons and perks and such……but the learning curve is HUGEmy first match had me on team opposed by players that had maxed out their multiplayer stats.good game, could have been alot more single playerwise but i don’t regret buying it

EPIC GAME!! Must buy for any gamer who enjoys battle that rivals the movie 300. Just wondering when a sequel will release….

Chainswords, Space British, and Orks with a K. Those are a few things to expect when playing 40k Space Marine. You play as Titus captain of the Ultramarines, and wow your whole team just look so badass. You have giant shoulder pads with skulls on them, you rip guys apart to get health back, you don’t use cover because F that and your dude just looks even cooler by the end of the game. The game starts off with you flying over this planet getting ready to land. When you spot Ork airships flying by. Then Captain Titus (you) makes the call and say were jumping, so that we can take out those airships. You do and you blow them up and of course you get separated form your squad. You then go out to find them and last survivors. The story defiantly takes a turn that I didn’t really see coming, and it was a good one it changes up the story and the gameplay. For the most part of the game it just has you ripping through guy and tearing them apart weather it be with your Chainsword or with your guns, and it feels like they have mastered ripping guys apart because they just blow up in to the mist of red when you shoot them our when you gut them in half with your sword. Just going into a group of 100 Orks and just coming out the other end covered in blood feels amazing, looks so cool, and is so much fun.The story mode will take you about 8 to 10 hours to beat if you play it on normal. It feeds you new stuff pretty frequently so it feels a little different now that you have this new gun or th.
