I couldn’t wait for this game to come out—it sounded so creative and interesting and different. I’ve been playing for hours now, and I can say it is interesting and different—creative not as much. The basic gameplay is jamming. You don’t create the tunes, at least not at first, but you mostly control the rhythm of various instruments. You can be melody, percussion, chords, bass, and then be one of many instruments for what you chose—piano, toy piano, electric guitar, marachas, flute—lots and lots of choices. Each type of instrument has a way to be held to play it, but you aren’t actually picking the notes—just the rhythm—what you play has a built in melody which plays when you are playing. It’s fun to fool around with. I thought I would like only to be the melody, but it’s actually neat to be the back up chords or bass too. You can also play all the different parts by going back and playing the same song again as a different part over and over. You unlock songs as you go. The songs are fairly fun to play with, for a middle aged person like myself that doesn’t know the most recent hits and likes songs I do know—like Clementine, Happy Birthday, O Christmas Tree, Twinkle Twinkle, Ode to Joy, etc. I was surprised to see Woman by John Lennon on the list—I love that song, but it seems a bit out of place! There are lessons on types of styles, and also games you can play. The handbell game is curiously addictive, but I wish there were more songs available for.

A fabulous game for young children. They love to choose the different instruments, play the songs how they like, and especially to create the videos. There’s not a huge amount of appeal for an adult audience, but playing this game with children is a lot of fun. It’s just a joy to watch how much fun they’re having with it.

From what a guy at a game store told me, either you love it or you hate it. and you should probably rent it before you buy it. I bought it because it seemed like a fun game but almost returned it since people were giving eh reviews but luckily I opened it. I actually really liked the game a lot. It does looked like a simple game but actually, it is very complicated on the inside. When I first played it at the game store, all I could hear was the metronome and I could hardly hear the instrument and I was like, “aw, I paid for this game?” but that probably was cuz the instrument was playing really soft but once you get into the jam mode, with the fullbacking of the percussion, bass and chords, it sounds really good. For those who say it’s a noise maker,it is if you aren’t playing correctly. The key to playing good music in this game is having a good concept of rhythm. If you can’t play on the beat and you play whatever, it’s gonna sound like noise.I agree with the others that the game is smart for the fact that they ease you in to playing more difficult styles. It’s cool that you get to learn how to play different styles of music, (ie. jazz, rock, pop, latin, hawaiian, japanese…etc.). The part I did find annoying was once you have learned all the different styles, you’ll notice you have played twinkle, twinkle little star like about 20 times and it get’s pretty annoying even though you end up starting to arrange your own versions of the song. Besides the fact that your instru.

When our copy of Wii Music arrived, we were a bit skeptical. Based on the summary, the game lets you play a bunch of virtual musical instruments by waving around your Wii remote and pressing buttons. I’ll be honest and say that did not sound very satisfying on paper. However, after countless jam sessions, hand bell performances, symphonies, and music video recording, I can tell you that this game is incredible.Unlike most games, there is no set path and there is no right or wrong way to experience Wii Music. The game is more of a tool to allow your kids (and you) to understand music theory and foster their musical creativity. This is not done through the sadistic exercises that piano teacher from your childhood employed. Rather, the game introduces you to the basic mechanics of the various instruments and underlying concepts of music and sets you on your way.You start with about two dozen different instruments to try. As you progress through the additional lessons, games, and challenges offered, you unlock more. This process is extremely satisfying because of not only the sheer number the game offers in total (a whopping 60!), but also their variety and humor. This is a fantastic way to introduce you children to instruments they would never have the opportunity to experience otherwise. Sure, there are the expected standards like a drum set, piano, violin, trumpet and guitar, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.Ever played the djembe or taiko drums? Rocked out with a shamis.

Like a said in title my family loves it!! I wish there where more songs to chose from and maybe it is we just haven’t opened them yet.

I picked up Wii Music on Wednesday and have been having a blast every night this week. One thing that I realized is that besides the 3 minigames, it isn’t really a game. If you go into it thinking it’s a game, you may be disappointed. There’s no score, no levels, no character development, no plot. When you finish a song there’s on one telling you “Great Job!” if you win or “Fail!” if you lose… In fact you score yourself based on how well you think you did. “Gamers” expect all of these things, and when they don’t find them they say that it sucks. There’s the obvious comparison to Wii Sports and Wii Play. As a game, Wii Sports blows it out of the water, but you really can’t compare the two at all because they’re completely different. Personally I don’t think that Wii Music is much of a game at all, it’s more of a Musical Toy, and a darn good one at that. It’s just as much fun as Wii Sports, and has more replay value than the boring games in Wii Play! Who cares that the game doesn’t tell you how good or bad you did. Smart people can figure it out for themselves!Grab some beer and some friends, and make a fool out of yourselves! That’s what Wii Music is all about, it’s just plain fun!

    Kids loved it

I hope people will give Wii music a chance, my kids age 13 and 22 love it. It is not a typical video game in that there is no real competition – once you get past that and open your mind to all the game has to offer you should love it. The drum set (used with the Wii fitness board) is my 22 year old’s favorite – and he has a real drum set!! My 13 year old loves all the different instruments and all the little things Wii does to make this game interactive and entertaining.
