I got this game yesterday (January 7th, 2015) and played it for a good 5 or 6 hours. I have to say, I am incredibly impressed. I talked to a buddy of mine who suggested it. Reviews throughout the Internet recommended it. And heck, I love LotR, so why not? Lemme break it down a bit. :)Story: Slightly confusing at first, but strong. Right off the bat, you are thrown into combat, giving a “trial by fire” feel. It is interesting and fun to work through. It could start getting repetitive, but so far I haven’t had that problem.World: I am still on the first world, Udun, but it is MASSIVE. I heard that there were only 3 places to explore here, and that sounded a bit off. Thing is, I have played it for a good while, going everywhere I can, and I STILL haven’t even explored Udun. The place is ridiculously big.Movement: THIS is where I get all teary (along with combat). The movement is extremely reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed, allowing you to climb up buildings with ease. But, for any AC player out there, we all know that walls can sometimes be a pain if they don’t have any grips. The Ranger of the Black Gate doesn’t give a damn. He does some super jump to climb up things, meaning you can climb anything 75% faster than in AC. It is awesome.Combat: FINALLY. The combat is fantastic. If you have played Batman, it is very similar to that. Stun using B, Attack using X, Counter using Y, Evade/Jump Over using A, Ground Kill using RT + X, etc. Combat can be difficult at times, as you can.

I have to say this is a great game, I really enjoyed the plot and overall feel of the fighting system. The beginning is definately a LOT harder than the ending of this game. At first I almost stopped playing but as my character got stronger it became really fun. That said the ending was really very easy, that said from a plot line it made total sense. The whole point of the game was to level up your character so he can do final battle with the Sauron. The war chief system was great too. Highly recommended.

this game is beyond epic. It’s literally like a playable LOR adventure. And the fighting system is awesome and makes the thirst for Orc blood even stronger…;) and apparently the DLC is even more challenging then the campaign. Love the graphics and music and everything. Great game. You won’t regret it.

I think the other reviews do a great job of going over the details of this game. I’m just going to say that this game is surprisingly very good but be patient. When I first started playing this game I was getting very frustrated because it seemed impossible in the beginning. Once you learn the controls and learn the mechanics of the game, it becomes much more enjoyable. You’re going to die a lot in the beginning, and as a result the enemy is going to get stronger, but after about an hour or two of play you will know how to play the game and then it’s awesome to play! Highly recommend this game.

I am a PC gamer and do not mess with console games very often. I buy them for the kids and typically never pick up the controller. This game was certainly an exception. I cannot stress how addictive Shadow of Mordor is.

This game is fantastic, It is a mix of Batman Arkham and Assassin’s Creed. The controls are even similar in playstyle. I am digging this very much. The Nemesis system is very addicting, meaning after an enemy kills you he gets promoted and upgraded. So you immediately want to get your revenge but, he is tougher than before and he knows your coming back so its tougher to sneak and kill him.

Shadow of Mordor is one of the best games out there so far. Nowadays with money being so tight, so many games to choose from, and not knowing if a game will be a flop, video game reviews are essential. After reading the reviews I thought, "Okay this game should be pretty good." Two hours in and I’m loving it way more than expected. Like others have said the gameplay is a mix of Batman and AC. The one downside to this game is it is way too easy. Playing two hours, I was killed once. And I hear as you progress and get stronger it’s even easier. Still doesn’t taint this my opinion of this awesome game. Good for casual gamers.EDIT: Now after 7 hours in, the game is definitely harder. The variety of enemies and how you have to attack them definitely makes it tough.

This is by far the best game I’ve played thus far on either the Xbox One or the PS4 (I own both consoles, but played it on Xbox One). It really has everything- strategy, combat, action, stealth, weapon upgrading, special abilities… I think I’ve killed about two thousand Orcs, and I’m still not bored with ending their foul lives. Some folks have praised the Nemesis system, but I didn’t really have that experience. I was having so much fun doing side quests and killing random orcs that by the time I really got into the main storyline, my Nemesis wasn’t much of a bother. Love the trash-talking from the Orcs, and love that they remember past encounters. Also love stealth-killing "grunt" Orcs just as they finish a sentence about how they’re sure the "filthy Tark" is lurking around…The only two complaints I have are that:1) the character doesn’t handle ledges well- he steers kinda like a tank anyway, but getting him to walk onto a narrow ledge, walk a rope, or grab a rope can be challenging- struggling with the controls in those instances can break you out of the gameplay.2) the final "fight" is more than a little lackluster.Still, I can’t even bring myself to take a star off for these flaws. The game is just that good.

This is a really good game…. that has flown under the radar, in my book. I don’t believe it’s a $60 game (40-50 or less ). It is definitely not a kids game, hence the "M" rating lol. At first look, you may think it’s a button smashing game and you would be wrong. It does take a bit of skill to play and if you’re not careful, you can get over ran and killed before you know it. The game is a mix of stealth (mainly) and straight forward combat. Missions can be completed in a number of ways and can put your skills to a challenge. However, I haven’t been able to put my finger on it quite yet, but there is just something missing… hmmm. What ever the case maybe, I find this game quite enjoyable and challenging. Unlike Bungie"s fiasco. :-(
